Feeling Lost? Here Are 5 Things I Do When I Feel Uncertain

The last 5+ clients I worked with came to me feeling completely lost and uncertain. 

One client felt like she didn't have purpose, one felt unclear about the direction of her business, and another felt unsure about what she needed to prioritize because everything felt important. Another amazing client felt like she didn't have time for the things that brought meaning to her life and another still was so scared of going after her dreams that she had stayed in a yearlong cycle of self sabotage. 

 

Can you relate?? 🫣 I know I can. 

 

I've been in every single one of these scenarios and it's excruciating to feel like you're wasting your time, spinning your wheels, directionless or just going through the motions. Life is precious! We definitely don't want to feel like we're squandering it. 

 

When we don't have a direction or intention, it's nearly impossible to feel like we're living a meaningful, purposeful life. Sure, there's a level of freedom that comes with “flying by the seat of your pants” but I know you, and you crave freedom and deeper connection and meaning. 

 

If I am ever feeling lost or uncertain or like I'm spinning my wheels, I do these five things to feel more grounded and clear in my direction. If that's you, follow these five steps to get back on your path and feel inspired by your life once again.


  1. Revisit Your Values 📍 It's so easy to feel lost, uncertain or unclear when you are disconnected from the very things that bring the most meaning to your life. Ask yourself these questions: what are my values? What's most important to me right now? Use the workbook below to get even more clear on what those things are.


  1. Check in ✅: Am I living MY life? Or am I living the expectation of how others want me to live? If you're making a bunch of choices in your life to make other people happy, chances are you're gonna feel lost (and probably really pissed off).


  1. To the best of your ability, eliminate all external opinions and insights ❌ Put down the book, stop listening to the podcasts, stop prying for answers from your friends.They don't have the answers - you do. It's so hard to know your truth when you're inundated with the voices of others. The best thing you can do is get as quiet as you can and listen to the truth inside you.   1. Create a tiny goal / action that ties back to your values, then accomplish it 🌀Living our values gives you the meaning and momentum you're craving. Here's the thing - clarity isn't going to just plop down in your lap. Clarity comes by taking action. Period.


  1. Do something that brings you joy 🤸  What we find joyful is so often tied back to our sense of meaning. If you're feeling lost, prioritize what you love. You'll immediately feel the life breathed back into your Life.
