7 Habits I Created To Live My Best Life

Happy Summer Solstice, darling humans โ˜€๏ธ Today is by far one of my favorite days of the year. For me, the Summer Solstice is the essence of hope, light, growth and possibility. As we enter into this next season of life, I've been doing a lot of reflection on how the hell I've got to where I am ๐Ÿ˜…

It dawned on me while journaling this week that, damn, I've actually been able to establish some pretty life-changing habits that have supported me through the inevitable highs and lows of life.

Many of y'all have been curious about how I stay so connected to health and happiness - even when I feel like shit. This is how ๐Ÿ‘‡ I'm not saying this is the only way, but it's pretty tried and true (and many are backed by science). And you deserve to live your best life, too. If you're feeling stuck in a rut, feeling unmotivated, unfulfilled or unhappy, I encourage you to give one (or all) of these habits a try. When I started, I had no idea what would be possible. And now I'm here, and I'm so fucking grateful I followed through.

I get up between 4am - 4:30am Monday-Friday ๐Ÿ•“ I started doing this to give myself time to fill up my cup with joy before my day even started. My intention was to make joy a priority and increase my mood - and, much to my surprise, it freaking worked. I'm fulfilled before my day even starts. It's not only improved my mood, but also my productivity and creativity. BONUS. 6 years and countingโ€ฆ.

I read or listen to something inspirational ๐Ÿ“š This is especially important on the days I have low energy or low mood. It could be a podcast, book, or the rare TV show. This has been pivotal in sparking my creativity and business ideas. What's surprised me most is how it's also helped in expanding my mind to think about and create my dreamiest life โ˜บ๏ธ

I journal ๐Ÿ“ No surprise here ๐Ÿ˜‰ Journaling, quite frankly, has saved me from myself ๐Ÿคฃ and by that I mean all the bullshitโ€ฆthe doubts, the criticism, the perfectionism. It's given me a place to practice being vulnerable, fearless, weird. I am more me because my journaling practice has helped me overcome all the things that, for so many years, kept me from being me.

I listen to music (and sing) ๐ŸŽถ  Music to me is sheer joy. We all need joy in our day. Every single one of us. What is life if you aren't incorporating intentional joy??

I move my body ๐Ÿคธโ€โ™€๏ธ Through dance, walking, yoga, or jumping on my Peloton. Movement is one of the most effective ways to process stress, and it boosts your mood as well. It's been a life-changer for calming my busy mind.

Gratitude ๐Ÿ™ Gratitude has single-handedly changed my fucking life. And I do not say that lightly. I've practiced gratitude for 8+ years and it's gotten to the point where it's literally woven into my daily experience. Kyle's laugh, Winston's stinky breath, the sun, a healthy digestive system, clear skin, coffee in my favorite cup, a client breakthrough โ€“ there's always a pause, an acknowledgement of how wonderful it is.

I say out loud each morning: "I wonder what miracle is going to happen today?" ๐Ÿ’ซ This primes my brain to start paying attention to all the good things that happen each day, but often go unnoticed.
