Just Give Me The Answer, Will Ya??

This last weekend I led one of my favorite workshops called Yoga For Weight Loss - kind of a funny name for a workshop where we don't talk about calories, or protein or cardio, hell, we barely talk about weight. What we talk about is self compassion, self love, embodiment, mindfulness, and our relationship to food and body. It's amazing, and it's effective.

After the lecture on the second day of the workshop, one of the women raised her hand and said, "I know I need to talk nicer to myself and treat myself better. I know I need to start taking inspired action to eat better, but I don't know how to do it. How do I do it?

I could literally feel her pain and desperation for an answer. And it got me thinking - that's what we all want isn't it? We just want to be told the formula that will guarantee success so our problem (whatever it is) will go away.

I looked at her and said "I don't know. I don't know what the answer is for you."

I went on to explain that there are a million ways to get started and get inspired (and there are also a million ways to stay stuck). You've got to find YOUR way. It could look like this:

  • Tomorrow you wake up and simply decide it's the day you're going to take inspired action.

  • You hire a coach because you know your pattern is to start and not finish (psst, I know one ;)

  • You connect to a deeper purpose for why you want to eat healthier/live happier that doesn't include looking good in a bikini or impressing your ex-boyfriend (not good reasons BTW).

  • You start small, committed to not overwhelming yourself, and make one sustainable change after the next.

  • You post an affirmation or goal on your mirror to remind yourself what's most important.

  • You get SUPER clear about your excuses and what’s really been keeping you stuck.

  • You purchase a journal so you can process your feelings, rather than deny them and create more pain and turmoil for yourself.

So many of us lack the trust and connection with ourselves that we just want someone to tell us what to do. Got the magic formula to people pleasing? SIGN ME UP. Body love? YES, PLEASE.

Listen, there’s an answer for everything. Literally just Google whatever you want to know and you’ll find hundreds of answers. But it’s not the truth.

The truth (the answer) is within you. The answer may be scary, it may not be what you want it to be, you may want to ignore it or deny it or convince yourself everything’s A-OK. But you can’t continue doing this, and something tells me you don’t want to either.

Well, you're in luck because 1) I know it’s possible to create the trust, wisdom and connection within yourself to find your answers because I did it myself, and 2) this is my specialty. I guide busy, brilliant women back to THEIR inner wisdom, and guess what? You may not know it yet, but you are the smartest one in the room. You are the answer you've been looking for. I’m not the coach that will tell you what to do, I’m going to teach you how to find that answer yourself.

So I’m curious, what’s the best advice you’ve ever taken (or not taken)?! Share with me below! Wanna know mine? Check it out here.

P.S. This isn’t a pitch, it’s simply what I do, and I’d be an asshole if I hid how I could help you :) I encourage you to use one of the tips above to gain inspiration, or if you want to learn more about how I could support you, go here.
